A Solar work. Produced for the Art Center of St Gaudens, Comminges, France.
In the Choir of a Baroque Church, a sun beam hits a discarded diswasher rack containing worn out kitchen utensils, fragments of plates, silverware and other items. All this, through a play of carefully calculated refractions, produces a large scale anatomical representation of a beating heart onto the back panel of the choir. The threads stretched accross the chaotic diswasher rack are mecanically sollicited to produce a sound - emphasized by a sound box - which seems to correspond with the regular movements of the image of the heart's diastole and systole. The activity of the heart appears to increase and decrease according to the intensity of the sun outside. When the heart ceases to beat and the image disappears, a feeling of uneasiness rises within us...
