Smoke screen - 2000

A plastic bottle squashed and skewed on a rod slowly rotates on its axis betwen an halogen lamp and some magnifying glasses. On the other side of the room, a paper garland in the shape of a town lays unfolded against the wall. The multiple reflections created by the light interfering with the reliefs of the crushed bottle set ablaze the paper cut out. The town is engulfed by a vast fire, it could be the the Great Fire of London or the more recent conflagration in Grosny. Perhaps it is a portent of disasters the world may have in store for us. It doesn't take much to transform life into inferno, in this instance all it took was a bottle of water!
